"Train children in the right way, and when old, they will not stray." Proverbs 22:6

Cabot United Methodist Church is committed to providing a quality Christian Education to our many children. It is important that children know about God's love and grace at an early age. We strive to teach them and guide them along on their faith journey through our many children's programs and ministries.

Sunday School

"The Riverwalk"

Sunday School for 1st - 6th grade takes on a whole new look. Using the Workshop Rotation Model, we have transformed 6 classrooms into multi-dimensional, creative workshops which teach Bible stories through drama, art, story telling, movies, music, cooking, puppetry, science, prayer, Bible study, games, mission projects and a TV newsroom. The classes rotate to new age-appropriate workshops each week of the 4 to 5 week rotation.

ECA (Early Christian Awareness)

Children learn very quickly when they are young. They are capable of absorbing much more information than we can imagine. In 1968, Clara McCord developed the Early Christian Awareness program in Corpus Chrisiti, TX. ECA is a teaching class for ages 6 mos - 36 months. CUMC joins many other churches using this non-denominational program that offers a structured learning time, supplementing quality child care in the infant/toddler ministry. ECA 1 is designed for infants 6-18 mos., and ECA 2 is designed for infants 18-36 mos.

FaithWeaver Friends

A Christian education opportunity for children 2 years old - 6th grade. "Friends" is held every Sunday evening during the school year from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Children will learn to grow in their faith through Bible Study, music, crafts, puppets and much more. The 5th and 6th graders are "Mission Maniacs" during the same time and are involved in different service projects in our church and community, as well as their own Bible Study.

Vacation Bible School

Photo: Children's Ministry - Vacation Bible SchoolVBS is held for one week each summer with classes for all children Pre-K - 6th grade. Children through 4th grade enjoy learning Bible lessons through song, stories, crafts and other activities. Fifth and sixth graders become "Mission Maniacs" for the week and are actually in service at the church and within the community. Children collect an offering each year that goes to support various mission projects, such as Heifer Project International, Open Arms Shelter and Habitat for Humanity.

Bible Baseball

All school-age children are invited to play "Bible Baseball" each spring. Study questions are mailed out a few weeks prior to the big game and spring training begins! When game time arrives, children are divided into teams by ages/grade levels and the questions are "pitched." Trophies and ribbons are awarded in each level after a night of learning God's Word, enjoying good ol' baseball food, Bible Bingo between innings and lots of good fellowship.

ADVENTure and Lenten Fair

These activities are held at the beginning of Advent and Lent to help children learn more about these special seasons. Children and their families may visit a number of booths set up in the Family Life Center gym and, through a variety of crafts and activities, learn more about Advent and Lent.

3rd Grade Bibles

Each Fall, all 3rd graders receive a Bible from CUMC and are encouraged to bring them to worship each week. Children learn to use their Bibles each week in Sunday School.
