Cabot UMC Youth

Cabot United Methodist Youth are committed to leaving the door open for any to join our Christian Family. We also want everyone to know we are not ashamed! Romans 1:16. We are proud of the Good News we have in Christ and want to share His love.

Fun and fellowship are a part of our youth program, through group-building activities such as retreats, games, trips, swimming parties and much more.

Opportunities for spiritual growth are an essential element of our program, through worship, Bible study, music, devotionals, and discussing faith issues.

Service is important to our youth, with a number of opportunities for outreach to others in the church, in the community, and beyond.

Personal growth is the key to our youth program, with discussions and programs to help deal with everyday life.

Some of the opportunities for youth:

UMY Rock Solid Nights

Photo: Youth Ministry - Rock Solid NightsUnited Methodist Youth meet every Wednesday afternoon from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. to enjoy fun, fellowship, pizza, listen to music, or just hang out with friends. This free time provides an opportunity for youth to be with friends, develop new friendships or just "hang out with Christian youth in a positive environment. Basketball and pool are a couple of the recreational offerings.

6:30 - 7:30 p.m. - planned activities focusing upon group building, programming relevant to current social issues ( Jr. High and Sr. High are sometimes separated), missions and worship. These evenings are filled with God's spirit and high-energy youth, led by adults that are called to youth ministry. The Youth Praise Band leads the youth in worship with our committed youth and adults.

Youth Bible Study (Synago)

Everyone is welcome to come on Sundays from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. for Bible Study. Synago is youth-led and meets in host homes. Synago is the Greek word for "come together". Youth meet each Sunday evening with the same small group in a host home. Youth feel at ease to discuss more openly and have a more focused Bible study in the host home environment.

Sunday School

Classes are held at 9:30 a.m. Confirmation begins in January. Each confirmand is assigned a mentor, who takes them through a 10 week study, learning about the United Methodist Church and making a decision to be baptized or to reaffirm their baptism. They will also worship with other churches and denominations and participate in fun outings and retreats.

Youth Choir

If you like to sing, check this out. Youth Choir meets every Wednesday, 5 - 5:30 p.m. There will still be plenty of time to hang out and have pizza before Rock Solid begins. The Choir will be led by Chuck Massey.

Youth Bells (Celebration Ringers)

Can you count to six? Can you tell right from left? Then you can be a part of the Celebration Ringers. Practices are every Sunday, 5:00 p.m. Youth Bells are led by Laura Vaughn.
