“Train children in the right way, and when old, they will not stray.”

Proverbs 22:6

Cabot United Methodist Church is committed to providing quality Christian Education for our many children. It is important that children know about God’s love and grace at an early age. The mission of the Children’s department at Cabot United Methodist Church is to help the children grow in their walk with Jesus Christ and to nurture them toward discipleship. We strive to guide them along on their faith journey through our many children’s ministries, and welcome those who share this fundamental idea to join us in this ministry.  Below are links to more information about our long-term ministries as well as information on various special events held throughout the year. Please don’t hesitate to contact us for more information on how to become involved in guiding our children’s walk with Jesus!*
*At this time due to Covid-19, there are no children’s ministry
programs taking place at the church.
We will keep you informed when they are able to start back up again.

(Worship Our Way)
Children’s Church is offered during the 9:00 River Service for all children who are 3 years old (by August 1 of the current school year) through 2nd grade. It is a wonderful opportunity for children to hear Christ’s word through praise music, messages, and prayer. Children attend worship with their family until the designated time when they are led to the Refuge area for W.O.W!  At the conclusion of the 9:00 service, children are then picked up by parents.
*Childcare is provided for infants – pre-K during all worship services as well as many other activities offered at CUMC.
Children’s Music
Cherub Choir – the preschool Sunday School Classes (3 year olds, 4 year olds, and Kindergarten) meet approximately 15 minutes each Sunday at the beginning of the Sunday School hour (please take your child to their Sunday School class first then they’ll have music practice). The pre-schoolers also have a music session during the two Kids Rock sessions (Fall & Spring) on Wednesday evenings.
KidsROCK Choir -1st-4th graders practice their music at the beginning of Kids ROCK each Wednesday night during their two 8-week sessions (Fall & Spring).
*Both of these choirs share their music in worship services
periodically throughout the year.*
Special Occasions & Events
ADVENTure and Lenten Fair
These fairs are often held at the beginning of Advent and Lent to help children learn more about these special seasons. Children and families may visit a number of booths set up in the Family Life Center and, through a variety of crafts and activities, develop a deeper understanding of the seasons.
Created By God
Created by God is a Bible-based Human Sexuality Program for students age 10-12. The program covers brief biological issues that both males and females undergo during puberty. Adolescent tendencies are also discussed. The program requires a parent informational meeting prior to the workshop to have a clear understanding of the content that will be presented to the pre-teens. The workshop is usually held on a Friday evening from 6:00-9:00PM, and from 9:00AM-4:00PM the following Saturday. We conclude with a parent and student session together.
Vacation Bible School
VBS is held for one week each summer with classes for all children Pre-K – 5th grade. Children through 4th grade enjoy learning Bible lessons through song, stories, crafts and other activities. Fifth graders serve at the church and within
the community in addition to their week-long Bible study. Children collect an offering each year that goes to support various mission projects including
Heifer Project, Open Arms Shelter, deployed squadrons from the LRAFB, Back-2-School Fair and more.
Parade of Palms
Every year the children begin each Palm Sunday worship service with a “Parade of Palms”, waving palm branches as they enter the service while the congregation sings. children of all ages are invited to participate.
Easter Egg Hunt
An Easter Egg Hunt/Cookout is held on Palm Sunday afternoon each year. The Egg Hunt is open to all children, infants-4th grade, but everyone is invited to come enjoy an afternoon of fun and fellowship as we har about the true meaning of Easter followed by a delicious hamburger/hot dog cookout.
Bible Baseball
Often during the Spring, children are invited to play “Bible Baseball”. Study questions are mailed out a few weeks prior to the big game and spring training begins! When game time arrives, children are divided into teams by ages/grade levels and the questions are “pitched.” Participants enjoy baseball food, Bible Bingo, and fellowship!
