Music Ministry

Cabot United Methodist Church enjoys a strong music program and encourages new members to consider becoming a part of this vital ministry. Cabot UMC has a music group for all ages including the Cherubs Choir, the Kids ROCK Choir, Youth Praise Band, the River Praise Band, the Chancel Choir, and the Agape Handbell Ringers. Membership in any of the worship service volunteer music groups does not require prior experience, or the ability to read music. It only requires a love of praise and worship music. We also have handbells for adults for special performances and occasions.

Cherub Choir

This group of singers features kids from 3 years old-kindergarten and rehearses on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. directly before their Sunday School lesson (please take your child to their Sunday School classroom first, then they will practice their music).  Introducing small children to the love of worship music from an early age, these young kids are invited to perform in both The River Contemporary Service at 9 a.m. and the Traditional Service at 11 a.m. from time to time.

Kids ROCK Choir

During the two 8-week sessions of Kids Rock (Fall & Spring), Kids ROCK Choir (for 1st-4th graders) gives our children an entertaining and educational opportunity to learn and perform choral music written for the young singer. They meet Wednesday nights from 6:00 – 6:30 p.m. during KidsROCK.

Youth Praise Band: “The Refugees”

If you are in 7th-12th grade, play a musical instrument or sing and enjoy praise music, we invite you to join us! We currently practice at 11:00 on Sundays in the Refuge. This group performs during Youth RockSolid Wednesday night Worship Service and occasionally features on Sunday morning in The River Contemporary Worship Service at 9a.m.

Chancel Choir

On Sunday mornings, special music is presented to our congregation during each of the worship services. The Chancel Choir, led by Choir Director Laura Vaughn, is a group of adults focusing on traditional hymns chosen based on each specific sermon.  This group performs during the 11 a.m. Traditional Service and rehearses Wednesday nights from 7:00-8:30 p.m.

The River Praise Band

This blended group of adults and youth come together, led by Neil Carter, to perform modern praise and worship music in the 9a.m. contemporary service, The River. They practice from 5:45-7:30 p.m. on Thursday evenings and enjoy a rotation schedule, allowing everyone the experience of worshiping in the congregation as well as serving God through music.

Agape Ringers

This group of adults play the English Hand Bells for special services and occasions throughout the year. Agape Ringers practice Wednesdays leading up to performances from 6-7 p.m.  No experience is required to participate and openings in this group only occur periodically – but they are always in need of substitutes and welcome anyone who is interested!
