New Here or Visiting?

We are excited to welcome you to the Cabot United Methodist Church website!  We are honored that you have chosen to visit our site and look forward to your visit to our church.  Below is information on what you can expect as a first time visitor to Cabot UMC.

Before Worship

We are located at 2003 South Pine St., Cabot.

You may park in any available space in our parking lot, however there are convenient, front-row parking spots labeled just for important guests such as you!
Please simply be mindful of dedicated spots for those with special needs.

Traditional Sunday Morning Worship takes place in the Sanctuary at 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. These services feature familiar hymns paired with meaningful liturgy.

The River Contemporary Worship takes place in the Family Life Center at 9 a.m. on Sundays. This service has a full Praise Band and leads worship through contemporary Christian music and impactful liturgy.

Sunday School/LifeGroups for all ages is offered at 10 a.m. Follow these links for more detailed information on our LifeGroups & Sunday  School classes:

 Children  Youth  Adults

What should I wear?

We have a “come as you are” policy and want you to be comfortable above all else. Some of our folks prefer to wear their “Sunday best,” some wear jeans, and most fall somewhere in the middle. The River service tends to be more casual. We want you to be more focused on the service than what you’re wearing and believe you will fit in no matter how you dress.

Please seek out one of our Welcome Team members!

Our Welcome Team members will be able to assist you with questions you may have and will happily escort you to different locations throughout our church you may need to access.  Don’t be shy – we want to help!

During Worship

Cabot United Methodist Church is friendly!

Be prepared to be warmly greeted and engaged in conversation. When you arrive at the door, you will be offered a worship bulletin with an outline of the service, activities and announcements for the week.

Running late or leaving service early?

No problem – ushers will let you know when you can enter the Sanctuary or Family Life Center.  If you need to leave early, no one will complain if you slip out.

You may sit anywhere — no seats are reserved.

Our church is accessible to those using wheelchairs or walkers.

When do I sit/stand during the service?

During the Traditional services asterisks are placed in the bulletin next to read-aloud items and to indicate when to stand.
During The River, worship leaders make announcements. If you need or want to remain seated through any service, please feel free to do so.

Children are welcome in our worship services!

Believing it is important for parents, grandparents, and children to worship together, children are always welcome. It is our practice to let parents and children decide the level of participation with which they feel comfortable. Children’s Worship Bulletins, clipboards and crayons are available for each worship service in baskets at the entrance to all services. Child care is available for infants and pre-school children during all worship services if you prefer, and 3-year-olds through 2nds graders can choose whether or not to participate in Worship Our Way (W.O.W.) Children’s Service during The River (9am).

Visitors are not expected to contribute to the work of the church
 (that’s our responsibility).

Don’t feel obligated to put a monetary offering in the offering plate. The church bulletin has a tear-off tab that we’d like you to fill out and put in the offering plate when it comes around. This gives us an opportunity to get to know you better. Many church members contribute once a month or online, so you won’t be the only one passing the plate on.

Am I invited to take communion?

We celebrate Holy Communion on the first Sunday of every month to commemorate Christ’s final meal with the disciples, and to celebrate his resurrection. In the United Methodist Church all are welcome at the Lord’s Table, regardless of denominational affiliation, church membership or belief. We welcome everyone to experience the gift of grace offered to us through Jesus Christ.

Do I have to join your church?

No, you do not have to join. You are always welcome to worship among us, participate in any of our activities and attend any of our study groups. Membership is a choice and commitment which we want you to make only when the time is right for you. If you do make the choice to become a part of our family, you can do so in the following ways: Baptism and/or Profession of Faith, transferring from another United Methodist Church, or transferring from another denomination. We believe that the Holy Spirit works within other churches and if you have previously been baptized we do not “re-baptize” you.
